1988 BMW M3

1988 BMW E30 M3 
 
Finished in Alpine White over a Black interior, this E30 M3 has been upgraded from its original 2.3L engine to a 3.2L S54, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission in place of the factory 5-speed. The M3 has covered approximately 2,000 miles since the engine swap. Only approximately 5,300 examples were delivered to the North American market between 1987 and 1990. This example features Corbeau-style bucket seats, DTM-style carbon fiber mirrors, OEM Startech tail lights, and genuine bespoke BBS LM 17" wheels (built by Elrich Wheel Works). The car has been refinished in its original shade of Alpine White over the years following repairs. The paint has also been fully wet sanded and ceramic coated.

Documented $30k+ in service and upfits over the past 10 years: 

2016: 

• S54 engine and 6 speed manual transmission conversion 

• Installed new clutch and flywheel 

• Replaced rod bearings, VANOS seals, valve cover gasket, and oil pan gasket 

• Installed a Bosch 044 fuel pump 

• Refreshed the cooling system with a new expansion tank, hoses, radiator cap, and temperature sensors 

• Replaced the A/C compressor, condenser, receiver drier, and associated hoses 

• Installed a Kassel Performance wiring harness with custom ECU programming and tuning  

• Installed a UUC short shifter and completed a fresh oil service 

2020: 

• Replaced both front lower control arms and control arm bushings 

• Installed a new OEM fuel hose 

• Performed a four wheel alignment 

2021: 

• Installed new spark plugs and a valve cover gasket 

• Replaced the pre-cat oxygen sensors and corrected O2 sensor wiring 

• Installed a custom Nick G ECU tune with dyno calibration 

• Corrected cam timing and rebuilt the VANOS using Beisan components 

• Installed a new thermal oil level sensor and repaired the engine wiring harness 

• Fabricated a custom stainless dual exhaust system 

• Powder coated and reinforced rear subrame 

• Replaced the front wheel bearings and performed a four wheel alignment 

• Installed a new battery
